Trauma Healing 2024: Advanced Equipping Session

From 16 to 19 April 2024, the Sower Institute for Biblical Discipleship (SIBD), in collaboration with the Trauma Healing Institute (THI), organised a transformative seminar focused on healing spiritual and emotional wounds caused by trauma. This Advanced Equipping Session was led by Nancy Writebol, a Master Facilitator and SIM Global Trauma Healing Coordinator, who brought her extensive expertise and compassionate approach to the training. Building upon foundational skills from a previous session, this seminar sought to deepen participants’ understanding and practical abilities in trauma healing ministry, equipping them to serve more effectively in their communities.

The seminar provided an immersive learning experience where attendees explored Biblical principles alongside psychological insights to address the complex realities of trauma. Nancy guided participants through advanced techniques, such as facilitating healing groups, supporting survivors of various traumas, and applying Scripture in restorative ways. The curriculum emphasised the holistic nature of healing, encouraging participants to consider emotional, spiritual, and physical aspects of trauma recovery. Interactive discussions, role-playing exercises, and case studies enabled participants to practice their skills in safe, supportive settings, fostering confidence and competence.

This Advanced Equipping Session represents the Sower Institute’s ongoing commitment to nurturing leaders who can bring hope and restoration to those affected by trauma. By partnering with THI, SIBD continues to integrate faith and professional practice, recognising that healing is both a spiritual and relational journey. Participants left equipped not only with practical tools but also with renewed compassion and courage to walk alongside hurting individuals. As trauma becomes an increasingly recognised challenge worldwide, this seminar highlights the critical role of the Church and faith-based organisations in offering holistic care and hope rooted in Christ.
