The ETHOS Institute’s flagship annual conference took place on Saturday, 20 September 2025, gathering pastors, theologians, ministry leaders, and lay Christians at Bible House for a morning of deep theological reflection. Centred on the theme Pneuma: Exploring the Power and Presence of the Holy Spirit, the conference sought to help believers better understand the Spirit’s role in salvation, spiritual formation, worship, and public witness. Participants were encouraged to move beyond viewing the Holy Spirit merely as a source of power, and instead recognise Him as the abiding presence of God who shapes the life of the Church and every follower of Christ.
Across four sessions, speakers offered rich Biblical insights and practical implications for life and ministry. Dr Tan Seng Kong opened with “The Work of the Holy Spirit in Salvation and Sanctification”, drawing on the theology of Jonathan Edwards to highlight how the Spirit’s anointing flows from the very life of the Triune God. Rev Dr Dennis Lum followed with “The Gifts and Empowerment of the Holy Spirit”, reminding attendees that spiritual gifts are given for the building up of the Church and must be exercised in humility and love. In the third session, Rev David Lim explored “The Presence of the Holy Spirit in Worship and Prayer”, emphasising that genuine worship arises from the Spirit’s enabling presence. Finally, Rev Dr Lewis Winkler addressed “The Holy Spirit and Christian Engagement in Society”, discussing how believers are empowered to witness, pursue justice, and serve the common good.
Participants responded warmly to the conference, expressing renewed appreciation for the Spirit’s transformative work in every aspect of Christian life. Many left with deeper conviction to walk in step with the Spirit—bearing His fruit, serving the Church faithfully, and engaging society with grace and truth. As ETHOS continues its mission of equipping the Church for thoughtful engagement, this year’s conference has further strengthened the call to live Spirit-empowered lives.
