On 21 May, The Bible Society of Singapore (BSS) warmly welcomed a delegation from the Bible Society of India (BSI), who were in Singapore on a learning and fellowship visit. The group, led by Rev Kavitho, comprised representatives from 14 provinces across India, reflecting the breadth and diversity of the Indian church community. Their purpose was to gain insight into the best practices of BSS, particularly in the areas of Bible production, programme development, and community engagement, so as to strengthen their mission of making God’s Word accessible and meaningful to the people of India. The visit underscored the long-standing ties between Bible Societies around the world and the spirit of partnership that drives the United Bible Societies fellowship.
During their time in Singapore, the BSI delegates participated in a range of meaningful activities designed to give them a firsthand experience of BSS’s ministry approaches. One highlight was their involvement in a sneak preview of DECLARE, BSS’s flagship initiative that encourages believers to boldly proclaim passages of Scripture aloud in public spaces. The delegates joined local participants in reciting verses, embodying the central conviction that the Word of God is meant to be shared with confidence and joy. They also engaged in times of fellowship with BSS staff and partners, which provided opportunities for mutual encouragement and the exchange of ministry experiences across different cultural contexts.
In his address to the delegation, Rev Ezekiel Tan, General Secretary of BSS, expressed enthusiasm for deepening collaboration between the two Bible Societies. He emphasised that while each society operates within its unique cultural and national setting, they share a common mission of spreading the Word of God to all people. Rev Ezekiel highlighted how partnerships such as these help to build stronger networks of support, broaden perspectives, and inspire innovative ways of advancing the Bible cause. The visit concluded on a hopeful note, with both organisations looking forward to working hand in hand in the years ahead, united by their shared vision to bring the life-transforming message of Scripture to communities in need.
