On 22 January 2024, The Bible Society of Singapore proudly hosted the annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, a meaningful event that brings together believers from various denominations to unite in prayer and fellowship. This year, the theme was centred on the powerful words from Luke 10:27: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” This scriptural call to love both God and neighbour formed the heart of the gathering, inspiring participants to reflect on the true meaning of Christian unity and the shared mission to embody Christ’s love in their communities.
Organised by the Archdiocesan Catholic Council for Ecumenical Dialogue (ACCED), the event was a vibrant testament to the rich diversity of Christian faiths in Singapore. Believers from a wide spectrum of churches and denominations came together in a spirit of mutual respect and collaboration, setting aside differences to focus on common ground. Through joint prayers, worship, and moments of reflection, attendees deepened their commitment to fostering harmony and cooperation among Christians, recognising that unity is essential for effective witness in today’s diverse society.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is more than an annual event; it is a movement that encourages ongoing dialogue, understanding, and partnership among the Body of Christ in Singapore. By rallying around the Biblical call to love God and neighbour, this gathering reinforces the importance of working together to serve the community and promote peace. As the Bible Society continues to support such initiatives, it remains committed to nurturing a spirit of unity and shared purpose among Christians, helping to strengthen the Church’s collective impact both locally and beyond.
