At the Crossroads: Global Christianity, Mission & Leadership

From 5 to 6 December 2024, the Sower Institute for Biblical Discipleship (SIBD), a ministry of The Bible Society of Singapore, held a thought-provoking seminar on the future of global missions and the Church’s response to today’s rapidly changing world. The two-day event brought together Christian leaders, ministry workers, and believers from various denominations to reflect deeply on how the Church can remain faithful to its mission while navigating the complexities of the 21st century.

The seminar featured renowned missiologist Dr Todd Johnson, who has dedicated his life to the study of global Christianity and missions. Through a series of insightful lectures and interactive discussions, Dr Johnson explored key themes such as the changing demographics of the global Church, the role of leadership in a fragmented world, and the importance of strategic faith-based engagement in both local and global contexts. Participants were challenged to rethink traditional models of missions and consider how the Church can be more effective in bearing witness to the Gospel in an increasingly secular and pluralistic society.

This event reflects the heart of SIBD’s mission—to equip the Body of Christ in the areas of discipleship, leadership, literacy, and missions. As a teaching and training arm of The Bible Society of Singapore, SIBD offers a wide range of educational programmes and Biblical resources to support believers and church leaders in their spiritual growth and ministry. By hosting seminars like this, SIBD seeks to encourage the Church to be rooted in Scripture, strengthened in leadership, and ready to fulfil the Great Commission in every generation. Through continued partnerships and Spirit-led teaching, SIBD remains committed to empowering the Church for faithful and fruitful service in today’s world.
